April Seasonal Landscape Painting Course – Bluebells, Light & Woodland Atmosphere

Step into the heart of spring in this atmospheric Seasonal Landscape Painting Course, where we will capture the quiet magic of April through a luminous bluebell woodland, fresh spring greens and dappled woodland light.

Inspired by one of the most iconic scenes of the English countryside, this composition reflects the season at its most enchanting; a winding path leading through a woodland floor carpeted with soft violet-blue bluebells, trees newly in leaf, and gentle sunlight filtering through the canopy to create depth, light and atmosphere.

Working in acrylics on 45 × 38 cm board, you will be guided step by step through my layered painting process, learning how to create soft woodland distance, natural light and shadow, and the delicate balance of colour and texture needed to evoke a peaceful spring landscape. Demonstrations and individual guidance throughout the course will help you simplify the scene, understand tone and atmosphere, and build confidence in your painting.

Held over four consecutive weeks, this course allows time to work thoughtfully, developing layers and refining your composition to create an atmospheric woodland landscape. Your painting will feel complete by the end of the course, though, as with all layered work, it may continue to evolve with further refinement over time.

Suitable for all abilities, including beginners — no technical experience required, just a willingness to explore, learn and enjoy the process.

Each monthly course runs over four consecutive weeks, and every month we explore a completely fresh seasonal landscape, chosen to reflect the colours, light, and mood of the season. This keeps your learning experience varied, inspiring, and closely connected to the natural world.

To ensure accessibility, course days rotate each month: one month on Mondays, the next on Tuesdays, then the following month on Wednesdays.

Classes are small and informal, with a maximum of five students, allowing for individual guidance and attention to each stage of your painting.
