Full Afternoon Landscape Painting Workshop – ‘Snow in the Morning Glow’

Full Afternoon Landscape Painting Workshop – November
12.30-5.30pm
A 5 hour immersive landscape painting workshop.
Immerse yourself in the quiet beauty of an atmospheric river landscape bathed in the soft glow of early light.
Spend a creative afternoon painting a peaceful winter landscape, where golden sunlight filters through the delicate branches of a birch tree and a snow-covered path leads into the distance. Soft pinks and lilacs mingle with cool blue shadows, creating a beautiful contrast with the warmth of the sky.
Working in acrylics, I’ll guide you step by step through building this atmospheric composition. We’ll explore blending a glowing sky, creating depth with distant trees and mist, and using subtle colour to give snow shape and texture. You’ll also learn how to develop the birch tree’s distinctive bark and fine branches, before adding frosted grasses and finishing touches to the foreground.
To enable you to complete the painting within the workshop, we’ll be working on a 35cm x 30cm board, allowing you to focus on the key techniques and processes needed to create a finished landscape in a single afternoon.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a well-developed landscape painting and a deeper understanding of how to create light-filled, atmospheric countryside scenes using acrylics. Many paintings will be complete by the end of the day, while others may continue to evolve afterwards — just as my own work often does. You’ll leave with the skills, techniques and confidence to further refine and develop your painting at home if you choose.
Suitable for all abilities, this small-group workshop, with no more than 5 participants, offers a relaxed and supportive environment with plenty of individual guidance throughout.
All materials are included, along with tea, coffee, and light refreshments. As this is a continuous 5-hour session, there won’t be a formal lunch break, but you’re very welcome to bring sandwiches or snacks to eat during the workshop.
