‘Abstract Forest’ 3½ Hour Painting Workshop

Build an atmospheric woodland using textured layered acrylics, expressive techniques and metallic highlights.
Working with acrylics on board, we’ll build up layers of colour and texture to create depth and atmosphere. You’ll experiment with a variety of tools, including silicone spatulas, applicator bottles and rigger brushes, as we gradually develop a richly layered woodland scene. No artistic ability is required, and the trees themselves are surprisingly easy to paint. It’s a fun and rewarding process, with each layer adding more colour, luminosity and atmosphere, transforming the surface into a magical forest filled with light, depth and wonder.
In just 3½ hours, you’ll learn the techniques and materials I use in my own painting practice to create your own richly textured woodland painting. Guided step by step throughout the session, you’ll leave with a finished piece to take home and be proud of, together with the understanding and confidence to continue developing these techniques in your own work.
Your painting will be created on a 30cm × 30cm 3mm MDF board; a beautifully responsive and durable surface that works perfectly with layered acrylic techniques and is ideal for framing, which many participants choose to do after the workshop.
Run from the comfort of my studio in Ditchling, this workshop takes place in a supportive and nurturing environment with an intimate group of up to six people, allowing plenty of one-to-one tuition.
Suitable for all artistic abilities, including complete beginners, the techniques you’ll be using are easy to learn and apply, making this an enjoyable and inspiring introduction to expressive acrylic painting.
PLEASE NOTE:
The images shown illustrate examples of paintings created using the same techniques and process taught during the workshop, but in different colour palettes. The specific colours used on the day may vary, as a selected palette is chosen for each session. However, alternative colour options can often be accommodated, including palettes shown in the example images. If you have a preferred colour palette, please mention this in the ‘Additional Information’ section when booking and I will take this into consideration, where possible.
