Seasonal Landscape Painting Courses

Evening and Morning Landscape Painting Courses run in four-week cycles, each one dedicated to a new seasonal landscape theme that reflects the changing colours, moods and scenery of each month throughout the year. Each course spans four weeks within a single month, allowing us to focus fully on one landscape theme from start to finish.

The sessions are designed for beginners and improvers who would like to explore an organic painting style inspired by seasonal landscapes, working with acrylics on board.

These sessions have become a rewarding and integral part of my artistic career, offering others the opportunity to explore their creative side.

Acrylics are a wonderfully versatile medium, fast-drying, easy to layer, and ideal for creating texture and depth, making them perfect for this expressive style of painting.

During the course you will:

  • Work on 45cm × 38cm, 3mm MDF boards, a durable and beautifully responsive surface that suits the layered acrylic process beautifully. The slim, stable board is also perfectly suited to framing, and many students go on to frame their finished artwork.
  • Explore layering and expressive techniques to build vibrant, textured paintings
  • Work from photographs of seasonal landscapes
  • Learn how to use light, mid, and dark tones to create depth and atmosphere

The monthly courses run over four consecutive weeks, each focusing on a different landscape composition each month.

To make the sessions as accessible as possible, both the morning and evening courses run simultaneously, rotating each month — one month on Mondays, the next on Tuesdays, and then on Wednesdays the following month. These ongoing courses run throughout the year, offering a continual opportunity to develop your painting skills.

These small, informal classes — with up to five people — are held in my studio in Ditchling, allowing for individual guidance and focused support throughout the painting process.

Half Day Seasonal Landscape Workshops

Alongside the four-week Seasonal Landscape Painting Courses, I also offer Half Day Seasonal Landscape Workshops – rich and immersive seasonal landscape sessions designed for those who may have less time or are unable to commit to a full four-week schedule, yet still wish to enjoy the same expressive, layered painting process.

Held on selected Saturdays from 1-5.30pm, this extended half-day session offers focused, purposeful time to progress through the painting process, exploring colour, tone and atmosphere, with guidance and encouragement throughout in a supportive environment.

To enable the painting to be completed within a single session, the work is created on a smaller mdf board, offering a beautifully finished piece while still experiencing the same seasonal inspiration, layered techniques and organic painting approach that underpin my four-week courses.

During the afternoon, a short tea break is provided, with hot beverages, cake and biscuits, offering a gentle pause within the creative process.

BOOKING POLICY AND ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

Payments & Cancellations

  • Payments for multi-week courses or workshops are normally made in full in advance. However, in certain situations where a participant has asked to reserve a space without booking online, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure the place. Whether you have paid a deposit or the full fee upfront, refunds cannot be given if you are unable to attend or decide to withdraw for any reason, as materials are prepared, time is allocated, and the space cannot usually be filled once the course has begun.
  • If I cancel a session for unforeseen reasons, a full refund or alternative date will be offered.

Course Structure

Course fees cover the scheduled sessions and intended learning outcomes only. Where group numbers are smaller, participants may naturally receive more individual tuition and may complete their composition more quickly; however, this does not entitle participants to additional sessions, alternative workshops, or extended tuition beyond the booked course.

Accessibility Information

  • My studio is located on the first floor, accessible only by stairs.
  • Customers with mobility needs must contact me before booking to ensure the workshop is suitable.
  • No refunds can be given if accessibility needs were not disclosed prior to booking.
