Come and join me for a fun and inspirational day of learning how to create a beautiful contemporary floral composition!!
Learn and apply the methods and techniques that I use in my work as a professional artist and create your own masterpiece!
We’ll begin by developing a soft, natural backdrop that provides a sense of depth and atmosphere, setting the scene for a lively display of wildflowers and grasses. You’ll learn how to balance composition and layering to create harmony between background and foreground elements.
We will be working with acrylics on board. There is some easy brushwork in this workshop, where we will be painting wild grasses and seed heads, and simple basic flowers to build depth to the background, before adding textured impasto flowers. Impasto is a technique used to create texture, by building up layers of colour with acrylics.
We’ll also add metallic highlights and textured seed heads—a feature that has become synonymous with my work. To achieve this, you’ll explore a variety of tools and materials, including paint rollers, silicone spatulas, stencil brushes, sea sponges, masking fluid, metallic liner, and shimmering gold rubs.
Your painting will be created on a 40cm x 40cm 3mm MDF board; a beautifully responsive and durable surface that works perfectly with layered acrylic techniques and is ideal for framing, which many participants choose to do after the session.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own finished painting – a striking textured wildflower composition layered with colour, light and shimmering metallic detail.
This full-day workshop is is being offered at a special price of £80 as it is hosted by Victoria Pavilion Arts, a non-profit community arts organisation supporting creativity and wellbeing in the local community.
Lunch is included, with tea, coffee and a tempting selection of cakes available throughout the day.
